TagoreWeb was conceived in mid-2009 and created in November 2009. It will eventually contain all of Tagore's works - verses, plays, short stories, novels and essays written in English and Bengali. Currently the site contains complete Songs, Stories and a few Novels. We are adding the content in a phased manner. Over next few weeks and months, we will add other works.

Content and Anthology
In presenting the Complete Works , TagoreWeb.in follows the anthology followed by Visva-bharati for their Complete Works (রবীন্দ্র রচনাবলী). The website is divided into major content types – Verses, Songs, Novels, Stories, Plays, Essays and Miscellaneous. By clicking on Songs, one may see the subsections – পূজা, প্রেম, প্রকৃতি, স্বদেশ, বিচিত্র, আনুষ্ঠানিক and প্রেম ও প্রকৃতি. Clicking on any section will show all the songs within this seb-section. Clicking on a song will display the text of the song.

Searching
The site can be searched in English as well as in বাংলা. Searching in বাংলা is easy. To search for “রাজা”, simply type raja<space>. As soon as the <space> is typed, raja will be translated to রাজা. Click on the “Go” button and get all the content that has the word রাজা. The search engine is built on proven technology of Google.

The Internet – Future Possibilities
The medium of internet allows us to experiment. First, it allows us to expand the content in stages. Second, it presents the exciting possibilities of collaboration among volunteers all around the world. Volunteers typeset and proofread the content; and also participate in the discussion forums. Third, it allows to present the content is new ways. One such example is our songs section – where the musical score is presented side by side the lyrics.
