LET ME NOT pray to be sheltered from dangers but to be fearless in facing them.
Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain but for the heart to conquer it.
Let me not look for allies in life's battlefield but to my own strength.
Let me not crave in anxious fear to be saved but hope for the patience to win my freedom.
Grant me that I may not be a coward, feeling your mercy in my success alone; but let me find the grasp of your hand in my failure.

একা বসে আছি হেথায়
যাতায়াতের পথের তীরে।
যারা বিহান-বেলায় গানের খেয়া
আনল বেয়ে প্রাণের ঘাটে,
আলোছায়ার নিত্য নাটে,
সাঁঝের বেলায় ছায়ায় তারা
মিলায় ধীরে।
আজকে তারা এল আমার
স্বপ্নলোকের দুয়ার ঘিরে;
সুরহারা সব ব্যথা যত
একতারা তার খুঁজে ফিরে।
প্রহর পরে প্রহর যে যায়,
বসে বসে কেবল গনি
নীরব জপের মালার ধ্বনি
অন্ধকারের শিরে শিরে।

I.92. avadhu begam des hamara
O SADHU! my land is a sorrowless land.
I cry aloud to all, to the king and the beggar, the emperor and the fakir
Whosoever seeks for shelter in the Highest, let all come and settle in my land!
Let the weary come and lay his burdens here!
So live here, my brother, that you may cross with ease to that other shore.
It is a land without earth or sky, without moon or stars;
For only the radiance of Truth shines in my Lord's Durbar.
Kabir says: 'O beloved brother! naught is essential save Truth.'
